Kija (Gija) Day was a historic occasion; a community holiday to celebrate your culture and traditions. If we continue this day I’m sure we will see it grow and take on deeper meaning. Thank you to Mr Clare for initiating this day, the Art Centre members and for all the community who worked to make the day special. The Federal Government granted the school an amount of $449,500 called Investing in Our Schools. We built the new toilets and covered the area over the basketball court. The kitchen was upgraded with new floor covering, fridge, stove and painting. |

The outside of the school was painted with money from the School Budget and this will be maintained each year. New computers were bought to keep them all the same for easier use. Mr John Rocca has done a great job in keeping the computer network running and sorting out technical problems with some help from Brother Berkeley. Thank you John The teachers had professional development in First Steps in Maths in the area of number and were shown ways to help the children understand the many concepts involved. This meant student free days and a couple of trips to Halls Creek. Next year we will be looking at how much time we give to mathematics and ways of teaching the different strands. Music was introduced as a subject this year and you will be delighted to know what the students have learnt about reading music as well as singing. Thank you to Miss Jo for this, who has a special talent herself in singing and music. |

| Thank you to the community and helpers who enabled; |
Other visitors included the School dentist in the dental van, Sarah the vet who helps us with pet care and Toad Busting, School Nurse, Speech and Occupation Therapist, Pam who helped with healthy ears, the staff at the clinic with many types of help, friends and family of teachers who shared some of their skills and knowledge. |
SPORTING ACTIVITIES: We enjoyed the Garnduwa coaching days of football, basketball, netball and softball, Todd and helpers from Argyle came to provide football coaching each month, cricket coaching and an overnight cricket competition in Kununurra, Eagle football cup, and this year the Gelganyem Softball cup.The athletics sports day this year was a successful event with good spectator attendance. Bluearth is another fun sporting activity that helps us grow as a person, reflecting on how we can do better ourselves, with each other and focussing our energy. |
